What to expect in your first therapy session
Starting therapy can feel uncertain, especially if you’re not sure what the first session will involve. Many people worry they’ll have to share everything straight away, or that they won’t know what to say. In reality, the first session is simply a gentle conversation where we get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy.
We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, what feels difficult right now, and what you’d like to change or understand more deeply. There’s no pressure to go into anything before you’re ready. My role is to offer a calm, supportive space where you can speak openly at your own pace.
We’ll also look at how we might work together, whether that’s exploring patterns, understanding emotions, or developing practical tools to help you feel more grounded. By the end of the session, you should have a clearer sense of whether therapy feels right for you and what the next steps might look like.
